Congratulations to all the nominees! An interesting and very name-heavy list, if I may say so.
Congrats to Richard Helms--now he's got TWO series with Shamus nominations!

I am so pleased to see Louise Ure's wonderful debut nominated. Calla Gentry is a great character and I remembered her story long after I put it down. It also has one of the most beautiful covers I have ever seen. Looks good on the bookshelf.

Great to see The James Deans receiving a Shamus nod (there seems to be a LOT of nodding of late in the direction of this fine series!). MWA's own Executive Fearless Leader, Reed Coleman, is showing his major league chops!
Also great to see Minotaurans Harry Hunsicker and J.D. Rhoades receiving Best First nods. Looks like the St. Martin's rookie all-star team is loaded for bear!
Yep, almost the All-Star Break. Time to start thinking baseball!
