Agree on Braff. Bill Lawrence should do a good job, too.

Bryon Quertermous

I think Braff will be good for the role, especially with Bill Lawrence on board, but man, Jason Lee would be SOOO perfect for the role and Kevin Smith is the best dialogue guy around and made for that material.

I have to agree with Bryon that Jason Lee would be the perfect I.M. Fletcher. I think Braff would be pretty good, too. I really enjoyed Fletch Won, so I hope they don't screw it up. Bill Lawrence seems to have a great handle on mixing serious and funny. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

While I admire both Braff and Lee -- think they're both great comedic actors -- I think they're both definitely wrong for the Fletch character.

They're not as ridiculously wrong for the role as Chevy Chase was, but the Fletch character is just NOT any of these guys.

Who to play the role? Years ago I would have given the role to Jeff Bridges, who has the right mix of masculinity and irreverent humor.

Today? Hard to say. But definitely not Braff or Lee.

I think too many people are thinking who could play the movie version of Fletch rather than who could play the book version of Fletch, which are too completely different animals.

Chase pretty much destroyed the character.

I have trouble with Braff in the role--Fletch in the books is actually more like a young Bill Murray. Anybody like that around?
