You know the apocalypse is coming when the British newspapers are turning into an episode of Distorted View Daily.

Only a very few furries are "people who pretend to be animal characters and share sexual role-playing fantasies." About 5% of all furries have a weird sexuality -- about as much, I'd guess as your average group of baseball fans or ... detective story readers.

Let wikipedia set you straight. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_fandom My 25-year-old (currently in the Peace Corps) has been to furry cons. She pretended to be a small mammal all her life. She's also published six RPG books and is a non-weird, contributing member of society. One of the most important things in the Wikipedia article is the section at the end quoting journalists who went to furry cons expecting to see bizarre sexual behavior and instead found a total family atmosphere.
